General Testing Information

Compliance Testing and Review

• DOT Managed Information System (MIS) Reporting: Upon request, Preferred Alliance will prepare the client’s annual MIS report.
• Statistical Recaps: Preferred Alliance will work with the organization’s Designated Employer Representative (DER) to obtain data for management reports that monitor and evaluate how complete and effective the program is. Preferred Alliance also facilitates delivery of Laboratory Semi-Annual Reports to the DER for record keeping.
• Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Certified Laboratories and Medical Review Officers (MRO): Preferred Alliance contracts with Department of Health & Human Services certified laboratories to offer Point of Collection Quick Test (QT).
• Preferred Alliance also contracts with MROs for the following services (see QT below):
  • Advanced electronic transmission options including a Web-based service for 24/7 access
  • Expert Testimony
  • Fast turnaround time with synchronized systems

On-Site Collection & Testing

Preferred Alliance oversees a team of Certified Breath Alcohol Technicians and Proficiency Trained Collectors, which serves California with convenient on-site collection and testing. On-site testing has proven to be a huge savings for employers.

Non-DOT testing also is available on site when you require immediate results (see QT below).

Point of Collection Quick Test (QT)

Recognizing the need for prompt turnaround times, PA offers Point of Collection testing. The self-contained test device checks for adulteration and dilution. Negative test results are identified immediately, while non-negative results go to a certified lab for confirmation testing (GC/MS, i.e., gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) and reviewed by a Medical Review Officer. PA has performed more than 23,000 “quick tests” on site for employers. In addition to receiving an instantaneous result at the time of collection, employers also can receive a hard copy via e-mail or fax for their files.
